An eventful year spent in Loughborough, I can safely say that the place grows on you. My initial thoughts arriving to study for my Masters Degree were positive. The onsite campus University has one of, if not the best sports facilities in the country, and attracts the best young sports talent from all over. On many occasions I bumped into international athletes at the University powerbase gym. The University also has a buzz about it with a real community feel that can be felt during term time. Coming from a huge city like Manchester it took time to adapt to the more pedestrian life in a smaller town. With time however I realized that despite its size the town caters for all your basic needs. There are a range of nice restaurants, shops and takeaways, nice range of bars and enough small clubs which you get used to. Looking for a place to stay for the year took a lot of time however, as there are so many options available. It took me over a month to find accommodation that suited me. I wanted a location in the heart of the town as well as close to the University. After much deliberation and with the aid of hindsight, I feel I made a great choice. There are a range of Mezzino student city centre apartments from which I chose Asha House. The buildings location is simply perfect. In the heart of the city centre you are a few minutes bus ride away from University and walking distance to all that the city centre has to offer. There is a community feel about the accomodation which is solely for students. With a diverse student population in the building. I made some great friends. The year has flown by and I can honestly say that it has been an immensely enjoyable one. Loughborough has made a mark on me and I shall definitely be returning to see old friends. For absolute certain I take with me fond memories of a small town where I had an absolute blast.
